Introduction

Building Swell’s Quality Control feature allows you to manage the quality inspection documentation and process.

Managing the QC process in Building Swell works in 4 steps:

1. Create a template of the QC form you’d like to use.
2. Add the template to the appropriate Route.
3. Fill out the QC form during an inspection.
4. Access the completed QC forms of orders at any time.

Step-by-Step Guide

Creating and managing QC form templates

1. Access the Quality Control templates page from the left-hand menu.

2. Click the “Add” button to create a new template.

   

3. Create a set of questions to fill out.
4. Once done, click on “Send live” to make it live.

Adding a template to a Route

1. Navigate to Rules Engine → Routes

2. Find the Route to add the QC form template to. If the Route’s already Live, create a new version.

   

3. Open a Stage where you’d like to add the QC inspection step.

4. Select the “Add Quality Control” button to select the QC form template you want to add.

   

Adjust the sequence by dragging and dropping and add more than one QC form template in the Route to customize the configuration to match your QC process.

Filling out the QC form during an inspection

1. During the building process, the shop team will run into the QC inspection step you’ve created above. This step will prompt them to fill in the QC inspection form.
2. For each question, you have the option to add a photo. You can add more than one photo per question.
3. You can pass or fail the inspection by selecting the appropriate option at the end of the form.
4. You can skip the inspection step to let the shop team continue making progress.

Accessing completed QC forms

The Quality Control tab in the Order detail page aggregates all the completed QC forms. You can access them even after the order’s been completed for record keeping.

How do I edit a live QC form template?

To edit the questions, you must create a new version of the template using the Create New Version button on the template detail page.

Can I add the same template in a Route more than once?

Yes! You can add the same QC form template to each stage of the Route. However, you cannot add the same template more than once in a single Stage.

Is the QC inspection step a requirement for the orders using the Route with QC step?

You can skip inspection by selecting the “Skip for now” button at the bottom of the QC form.

Can you control who can access the QC form template page or fill out the QC form?

Yes, please reach out to your account representative to set custom permissions.
