Step-by-Step Instructions

Navigating Building Swell is intuitive and streamlined.

Primary Navigation

Start with the Primary Navigation Bar, prominently located on the left-hand side of your screen. Here, you're introduced to a suite of tools tailored for prefab shop management:

  1. Insights

This pivotal feature provides a comprehensive view of your shop's performance, helping you grasp where your operations shine and where there might be room for improvement. It's a go-to spot to glean vital feedback from your production data.

  1. Staff Overview

This real-time dashboard provides a quick snapshot of your staff's current status across departments. You can see who is assigned, planned, available, or absent, along with their active and planned tasks and check-in times.

  1. Planning

View and manage your project schedules with a combined list and Gantt chart view. You can track project timelines, due dates, status, and progress percentages, and organize projects using grouping and nesting options.

  1. Forms

Create and manage form templates for your shop operations, such as observation reports and visual inspections. You can also view and manage form entries that have been submitted, and link forms to specific routes.

  1. Rules Engine

This is your control center for configuring the core elements of your shop operations. It includes sub-modules for Routes, Projects, Overhead, People, Teams, Departments, Stages, and Phases, giving you full control over production processes, workforce management, and workflow configuration

  1. Settings

Tailor Building Swell to better suit your shop's dynamics. This includes managing archived items, configuring notifications, onboarding new users, and modifying role configurations to ensure the right people have the right access.

Each primary module in the left sidebar can be expanded to reveal its Sub-Modules. Simply click on a module name to expand it and see the available sub-pages. For example, Insights contains Timesheets, Forms contains Templates and Entries, Rules Engine contains Routes, Projects, Overhead, People, Teams, Departments, Stages, and Phases, and Settings contains Archived, Notifications, Users, and Roles.

Build

Located at the bottom of the navigation bar, the Build page is your shop floor command center. Here you can view all tasks and overhead items, switch between department views, toggle between list and grid layouts, manage attendance, and assign tasks to workers. It provides a clear snapshot of active and upcoming work across your shop.

Profile

The top right corner displays your name and role. Clicking on it opens a dropdown menu with options to Switch organization (if you belong to multiple organizations), access Your Profile to customize your personal settings, or Sign out of the platform. You'll also find a notifications bell and a help button in this area.
