Planning: Import & Export
Introduction
Planning's Import and Export tools let you pull your data into a spreadsheet, make changes in bulk, and push everything back in one go. This guide walks you through how to export your data, edit it safely, and import it back into Planning.
Step-by-Step Guide
Export Your Data
- Head to the Planning module.
- Apply any filters or search to narrow down the records you want to work with.
- Click Export. Your .xlsx file will download automatically.

Notes for Editing the Spreadsheet
- Do not change
- The header row.
- Do not change Type for existing rows.
- Do not change Parent ID for existing rows.
- Edit only the columns you intend to update.
- For phase rows, Name must match an existing template-phase name.
- If you set Route ID, it must be a valid route in the same shop context.
- Some columns are read-only in export (highlighted in gray); treat them as reference fields.
Import
- Head to the Planning module and click Import.
- Upload your .xlsx file.
- Click Import to begin processing.

Once submitted, Planning validates every row before applying changes. If successful, you'll see a row count confirmation, and the page will refresh automatically. If there are errors, you'll get a row-by-row error table, and nothing is imported until all errors are fixed.
Tips & Tricks
- You don't need to export first. If you already have a spreadsheet with matching IDs, you can import directly.
- Use filters before exporting to keep your spreadsheet focused and easier to review.
- Rows without a matching ID are created as new orders automatically.
- To clear an optional field rather than leave it unchanged, enter null in that cell.
FAQ
What happens if my import has errors?
Nothing is imported. Fix all errors in the spreadsheet and re-import.
Can I change the Type or Parent ID of an existing row?
No. Those fields are locked for existing records and will cause the import to fail.
Why is a column grayed out in my export?
Gray-styled columns are read-only reference fields. Changes to them will be ignored on import.
Can I add new orders via import?
Yes. Leave the ID field blank and Planning will treat those rows as new and create them.
Conclusion
Import and Export give you a fast, flexible way to manage large sets of orders in bulk. Export your data, make your edits, and import when ready.
